Work with me

Mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural therapy (MBCT) with a therapist, online

Not an app, not vibes: a clinical, evidence-based way to train your attention, taught by someone who has practised and taught it for over a decade.

What MBCT is

MBCT stands for mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. It is a structured programme that combines meditation training with tools from cognitive therapy, originally developed to help people who cycle in and out of low mood and anxious rumination. It is one of the better-researched approaches in this field, and it is the backbone of how I teach.

I am certified in MBCT by the EFT and Mindfulness Centre in the UK, and I have taught meditation for more than ten years: courses, workshops and retreats across Peru, Mexico, Spain and Malta. I am also a warranted psychotherapist, which matters here for a simple reason: when difficult material surfaces in meditation, and it does, you are working with a clinician who knows what to do with it.

Courses: how I teach in groups

My group courses run online in closed cohorts; the full list of formats is on the group work and programs page. Each week builds on the last, and every session is recorded, so a missed evening does not break the thread. You leave with what past participants call a toolbox: a set of different techniques, tested against your own weeks, so you know which ones your system responds to.

The people in my courses are rarely beginners to stress and rarely experts in meditation. They are people whose minds will not stand down: professionals, parents, people in demanding seasons of life. The reviews on this page are from course participants, in their own words.

1:1 mindfulness training

Some people prefer to work alone with me, or need something a group cannot give: a practice built around a specific difficulty, such as anxious rumination, sleep, or staying present in conflict. In 1:1 work we design the practice for your life and adjust it as your weeks actually go, not as we hoped they would go.

Mindfulness is also load-bearing in my other work. It is a core skill inside trauma therapy, the daily engine of nervous system regulation, and part of how I approach psychedelic preparation: attention you have trained in calm weather holds up far better in strong weather.

The simplest way to see whether my teaching style suits you is the 12-minute guided meditation. It is a real practice, not a trailer. Listen once, and you will know whether you want more of this voice in your ears.

Who this is for

  • You have tried meditation apps and never got past the streak
  • Your mind rehearses, replays and plans while you are trying to rest
  • You want teaching grounded in evidence, from a clinician rather than an influencer
  • You are supporting deeper work: therapy, regulation training, or preparation for an intense experience
  • You prefer learning with structure: a course, a group, a teacher who tracks your progress

I met Asha when I was in Mexico. I did a meditation class with her. I had read lots of meditation books before that, but I could never fully get the benefits from meditation. Asha started from ground zero. She explained stuff and answered questions. Now I have a meditation practice that works for me. I ended up doing individual therapy with Asha. She helped me realize a lot of the stuff from my childhood I was just brushing under the rug, and it was actually impacting my life a lot more than I thought. She helped me feel my feelings, because I was always trying to analyze them. You can tell that she's doing therapy from a place of love, and she wants people to get better. It's not just a business for her. If I had friends or family that were looking for a therapist, I would have no hesitation to recommend Asha.

Questions people ask

I have never meditated. Can I join a course?

Yes. The courses assume nothing and build from the first sit onwards. Beginners often do better than lapsed practitioners, because they carry fewer ideas about what meditation is supposed to feel like.

Is MBCT religious or spiritual?

No. MBCT is a clinical programme built on meditation techniques and cognitive therapy, taught in plain language and backed by research. You do not need to adopt any belief for it to work. If you have a spiritual practice, it will sit comfortably alongside; if you do not, nothing is missing.

Course or 1:1: which should I choose?

Choose the course if structure and company help you keep commitments, and 1:1 if your situation is specific or your schedule is hostile to fixed evenings. The course is also simply a good, affordable way to start; some participants move to 1:1 work afterwards.

How is this different from using an app?

An app gives you recordings. A course gives you feedback: you can ask why a technique is not landing, have it adjusted to you, and hear how others hit the same walls. That loop, practice, question, adjustment, is where most people finally get traction. The recordings are still there when you miss a week.

Can meditation help with anxiety?

The research on MBCT is encouraging, particularly for recurring low mood and rumination, and many of my clients come for exactly that. I will not promise outcomes, because minds differ. What I can say is that the skills are trainable, the method is transparent, and you will know within weeks whether it is helping.
